OSHA's updated fall protection rules affect scaffolding, roofing, and steel erection crews statewide.
Starting July 1, updated OSHA fall protection standards will take effect across Florida, affecting workers in scaffolding, roofing, and steel erection. Employers who are not in compliance face fines starting at $15,625 per violation.
What Changes on July 1
The new rules require 100% fall protection at heights of six feet or more on all residential and commercial construction sites. This includes updated requirements for personal fall arrest systems, guardrail systems, and safety net systems.
"These rules save lives. Every worker on every site needs to know what changes on July 1 and make sure their employer is compliant."
— Sandra Polk, Gainesville Labor
Workers who believe their employer is not in compliance can file a confidential complaint with OSHA at osha.gov or by calling 1-800-321-OSHA.
